Match Report

RC CANNES v Dinamo MOSCOW

Article
  • Dinamo MOSCOW started slightly better in the first minutes of the #CLVolleyW Match of the week, but RC CANNES took then the initiative thanks to some nice attacks. It was a very interesting first set with both teams showing great will to win.
  • In the second set RC CANNES took the lead, showing nice play in defense. On the other hand, their opponents from Moscow were performing very well on the block. As the set was unfolding, it seemed that the Russians will equalise the set score, with great contributions also by Helena Havelkva on the service line making it difficult for the French reception. However, the hosts could make miracles and saved 7 set points to eventually cause a great turnaround and win also the second set.
  • Inspired by the second set, the French team continued to give their best on the court. Dinamo also was fighting hard and the play went point for point. It was after the second half of the set, when the French started building difference and eventually congratulated themselves with a straight sets win, remaining undefeated in Pool E.

“I am very happy of our team’s performance : it’s a collective victory. We owe our success to our mental strength, to our defence and to our presence at the block. Nadiia Kodola was distinguished as the MVP, but the whole team deserves a part of this reward, particularly our 2 middle-blockers, Mira Todorova (6 blocks) and our captain Myriam Kloster (5) for a total of 17. Three victories is a perfect start for us, even if we know that the return games clearly won’t be a piece of cake in this very tight and homogenous pool
