With their second 5-set away win of the season in the Champions League Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI are well on their way to securing a quarterfinal spot. After Magdalena Stysiak fired away her last serve, the Italian side won their fourth consecutive match in the Group Stage, which gives them two more victories than Turkey's record titleholders VakifBank ISTANBUL. 

Twice Lokomotiv KALININGRAD Region managed to wash away a SCANDICCI lead. In the second set they stopped Magdalena Stysiak, who became top scorer with 28 points, at exactly the right time to win 25-23. In the fourth they were simply outplaying the Italian frontrunners 25-16. 

A margin of four points was not enough to see them through though, Samantha Bricio came to serve on 10-7, she brought SCANDICCI back level. A few moments later Stysiak fired from the service line an unstoppable rocket, to secure the victory for SCANDICCI with 15-12.

Luca Cristofani, Head Coach of Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI: "The match was very good from tactic side. The atmosphere at the arena was great, spectators so sportive and supportive. Lokomotiv was better in serving and we were better in block."

Samantha Bricio Ramos, outside hitter for Savino Del BEne SCANDICCI: "The match was hard but we were ready for it because we played Lokomotiv already at home. Today's match was really harder since supporters were great for Lokomotiv. I was ready for it since Qualification in August, 2018. I know how spectators can support players here in Kaliningrad."

Bojana Drca, middle blocker for Lokomotiv KALININGRAD Region: "The match was hard, there were good moments and bad moments for our team and Scandicci as well. It was good experience for our team. The breaking moment was the fifth set and we were out of luck there."

Irina Voronkova, outside hitter for Lokomotiv KALININGRAD Region: "Matches in the Champions League are a good experience; we are getting better and better each game. One or two seasons in CL and we will be able to solve the matches in our favor."

Andrei Voronkov, head coach of Lokomotiv KALININGRAD Region: "It was a very complicated match for us. After unsuccessful first set our team played better. The fourth set was also good for us. Girls revealed their character after unsuccessful third set and equaled the match. For sure it is very disappointing that we could not win the fifth set although we had an advantage. But it is an experience as well that will help in the future."
