Turkish powerhouse, Vakifbank Istanbul, was looking to start their #CLVolley year with a win and a solid performance and so they did. Focused in defense and sharp on the attack, Giovanni Guidetti's team left no room for the Slovenians of Nova KBM Maribor to hope they can get anything out of this match.

It was a dominant performance by Vakifbank and a comfortable 3 sets win, their 146th in the Champions League, that sees them just one point behind Pool B leaders, Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI.

Giovanni Guiddetti, VakifBank - Headcoach : "I think the best thing today was to see this incredible atmosphere so full of people so passionate about us. Very very nice to see. This atmosphere and the stadium. And this match, we have to win. We did our job. But I think the most important thing that we can have this atmosphere always. It was an important match. I think with this atmosphere we can win against anybody."

Isabelle Haak, VakifBank – Opposite Spiker: It was a quick game but we really prepared well for this. The goal was just to focus on and we did well. It is really important to focus on these Champions League games because we want to be first in the group. We really focus about this. I'm really happy about what the team did today. We played together."

Radovan Gacic, Nova KBM Branik Maribor - Headcoach: It was really nice arena, completely full.  VakıfBank is doing great job not only court but also outside the court. Motivate in people come this hall. We had some problems with injures so we were'nt complete. But we should have done more but we didn't.

Anita Sobocan, Nova KBM Branik Maribor - Captain: First the full about Turkey in Istanbul we really enjoyed our time here. We arrive here on Tuesday and we had a little time to see the city. It was actually great game to play, the atmosphere the fans were amazing. And about the game we are young team and we have problems with some injuries and that was all we can do.
