A year ago, France’s men national team and Italy’s women national team became the VNL 2022 champions, solidifying a great year for European Teams in the competition with three teams in the top five for both genders.
This year, the VNL represents the perfect opportunity for the European teams to get going after a heavy club season in preparation for the highly anticipated CEV EuroVolley 2023 men and women’s editions set to take place this August.
For each gender, half of the participating teams come from Europe. First on the court on May 30, an all-European matchup opens up the women’s competition, with neighboring Netherlands and Germany each looking for a positive start to their journey this year.
Women's: Italy, Serbia, Türkiye, Germany, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland
Men's: France, Poland, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany, Bulgaria, Netherlands
The men’s side of the competition will begin on June 6 with Bulgaria facing China in the city that is hosting the first weeks of the VNL 2023, Nagoya, Japan.
