The third and last stop of this year’s CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour is taking place this weekend in Wagrain – the ‘cradle’ of the youngest and coolest version of the Volleyball game – against the iconic and idyllic backdrop of the Austrian Alps. With ideal weather conditions and the energising vibes spread by the DJ and MC, players and fans alike did definitely have a great time with action held across as many as three courts.

Teams from Turkey, Italy and two from the Czech Republic reached the women’s semi-finals after an action-packed day. The two home teams representing Austria in the men’s tournament did cross their paths with ‘Austria 1’ (consisting of national champions Florian Schnetzer, Mathias Seiser and Moritz Fabian Kindl) eventually edging their rivals to stay in contention for the medals together with Slovenia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. Schnetzer & Co. finished second last year in the first of back-to-back European Tour events held in Wagrain.

Wagrain, the place where Snow Volleyball was born more than a decade ago and the inaugural European Championships and World Tour stop took place in 2018 and 2019, respectively, continues to establish itself as the real ‘Snow Volleyball Mecca’. The competition will be reaching its climax on Sunday with the semis and medal matches. You can follow all of the action on the CEV’s YouTube channel as ORF Sport+ provides live TV coverage nationwide in Austria of both gold medal matches.

This year’s competition in Wagrain features teams from as many as 13 countries – with Friday’s qualification round in the men’s tournament ending in teams from Slovenia and the Czech Republic securing a much coveted spot in the Main Draw.
