Young Dutchmen and Belgians claim WEVZA U19 top honours in Cortegaça

This past weekend, Yannick Verbene/Elwin Oskam (Netherlands) and Annelore Bex/Marion Beauve (Belgium) emerged as the WEVZA U19 International Beach Volleyball Tournament champions at the end of the competition held at the High Performance Beach Volleyball Centre (CARVP) run by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation in the city of Cortegaça.

The competition brought together some of the most promising up-and-coming Beach Volleyball teams from across WEVZA. In the men’s tournament, Yannick Verbene/Elwin Oskam stormed to a comprehensive 2-0 (21-15; 21-8) victory in the final match with Germany’s Bo Hansen and Bjarne Severloh. The team Kyan Vercauteren/Jelie De Hert from Belgium claimed the last step of the podium after recording a 2-0 victory (21-18, 21-14) over Tristan Frobel/Mika Ahmann from Germany.

In the women’s competition, Belgians Annelore Bex and Marion Beauve outperformed their compatriots Ines Piret and Youna Coens in the final. In the bronze medal match, Noa Sonneville and Mila Konink of the Netherlands defeated Mareet Maidhof/Kim Prade (Germany) with a double 21-19.
