Spain recorded first victory at the 2021 edition of the Golden #EuroLeagueM. After two days of missing their luck to claim a win in Pool A, the Spanish players led by Augusto Renato Colito grab first 3 points at the competition outclassing the team of Latvia at 3-1. Even though the two teams showed equal skills in the different components, Spain remained more concentrated in the decisive moments while Latvia struggled with some unforced errors. Colito topped the charts for his team, recording 17 to his name, but it was Latvia's Kristaps Šmits who became Best Scorer of the match with 19 points.

- In the beginning of the first set, Latvia were unstoppable on the attack, while Spain were dominating on the block. This helped them to establish their rhythm and due to some errors by Latvia, took the lead.

- Latvia were breathing down Spain's necks in the next part, following them in the score and equalising. Toms Svans was contributing in the decisive moment but eventually Latvia couldn't tie the score even with the 4 aces scored by the team. 

-Colito helped Spain start better in the third set, recording 2 aces but Latvia were motivated on the attack. Kristers Dardzans was good on the serve and on attacki, while the Spanish players worsened on their winning spikes (18% efficiency). 

- In the last set, it was Spain who managed to grab their opportunities while Latvia, even though fighting hard, couldn't find a way to stabilize their play on the errors. 

- Colito became Best Server with 5 aces, while it was Gustavs Freimanis was named Best Blocker with 7 successful actions on this component.  

Edvins Skruders, stter of Latvia: „We made a lot of bad mistakes, especially in the first half of the game. And we lost too many points in service. Maybe in the decisive moments the opposite team had more luck than us.“

Rubén Lorente Camacho, setter of Spain: „It was a big match for us. I think we were little bit tired from yesterday's long match against Belgium. It was obvious that in certain moments, we were struggling, but we continued to fight as a team. I´m very happy for the win and how we played today. I am also happy to get playing time since our first setter has some small problems with his back."
